About Graça
Graça is one of Lisbon's oldest, highest and most authentic neighbourhoods. Sitting on the hill above the Alfama and Mouraria, it was historically a working-class and artisan quarter, and it has retained much of that character — narrow streets, local tabernas, residents who have lived here for generations, and a pace of life that feels genuinely Lisboeta rather than curated for visitors. What has changed is the property market. International buyers have discovered that Graça offers real Lisbon character at prices well below Chiado or Príncipe Real, and the neighbourhood has seen strong appreciation as a result. The building stock is a mix of 19th-century azulejo-fronted buildings, smaller 20th-century blocks and the occasional Pombaline survivor. Many apartments have been renovated to a high standard, but there are still unrenovated properties with genuine upside for buyers who want to add value.
